In 2010 the London International Fine Art Fair (LIFAF)
supported Maggie’s Centres as their charity of choice.
As such Maggie’s was offered a space at the fair for a
garden ‘stand’ and we were appointed to develop a design.
With the small space and budget a very simple design was
the way forward. Maggie’s Tree of Hope was:
“A specimen flowering tree that spreads its canopy like a
metaphorical umbrella that is a Maggie’s Centre: a
home-from-home place where visitors can ‘shelter’ and be
offered advice: a refuge for support during the bad days
and a blossoming of hope."
The tree is raised on a circular wooden plinth with a
mounded turf base and red steps cut out that lead up to
the tree. The riser of each step names the Maggie’s
Centres open to date.
