Christine Ann Facer over the past five years has run a dynamic landscape and garden design consultancy specialising in contemporary design and planting. She is known for her cerebral scientifically-inspired creations and has achieved recognition through her radical designs for large country gardens and show gardens.

Landscape Design projects

Projects have included several small London gardens; a 2.5 acre landscape and a stepped amphitheatre patio in North Wales; a roof terrace planting design for the headquarters of a large public company in Regent’s Park; ‘Genetic Garden’ selected for the 1st International Festival of the Garden, Westonbirt, 2002 ; ‘Virus Dynamics’ for the Chaumont Festival of Gardens 2004; ‘Paternity Suite’ for Channel 4 TV The Great Garden Challenge 2005 and her own 3 acre contemporary scientifically-inspired garden on the edge of a valley in the Cotswold Hills, which continues to evolve with the addition of Chiral Terrace in 2008.

A Venetian roof terrace.
A landscape design in conjunction with a Venetian architect for a new hotel in Naples.

Througham Court Garden has been featured on BBC Radio 4“Growing Spaces”; HTV ‘Roots and Shoots’ and on the Discovery channel; Genetic Garden’ selected for the 1st International Festival of the Garden, Westonbirt featured in the international and local press, Radio 4 (Woman’s Hour), BBC2 and HTV-West. Modern Gardens Press Day (London, June 2005) – an invited 15min slide presentation on Througham Court garden. Feature on the garden in the Times Weekend Review and RHS 'The Garden' Magazine (July 2008), The Sunday Times (Homes) August 17th 2008.

Freelance lectures


Has given frequent lectures on Lady Walton’s garden, La Mortella in Italy and on the Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa. She also gives lecture tours of her own scientifically-inspired garden, Througham Court, throughout the year.
